Rafael Garcia Lawn Care

Services

Everything we do —in plain English.

We’ll quote any of these on-site. The price you get is the price you pay — no surprise add-ons, no upsells.

  • Weekly Mowing

Same morning, same person, every week. Sharp blade, the right cut height for North Austin Bermuda or shaded St. Augustine, walks blown clean before I leave.

Weekly or every-other-week mowing on a fixed schedule. I sharpen the blade between routes so the grass tips heal cleanly instead of fraying brown. Cut height changes by season — taller in July and August so the roots stay shaded and the lawn keeps moisture; shorter in fall when the heat finally breaks. Edges every visit. Walks, drives, and patios blown clean before I roll out.

  • Edging & Trimming

Power-edged lines along beds, walks, and drives. String-trim around fences, A/C units, and oak trunks where the mower can’t reach.

A clean, deliberate edge holds for the whole week instead of fuzzing back out by Wednesday. I run the edger along every concrete border each visit and trim carefully around posts, fences, A/C condensers, and the old live oaks that most North-Austin yards have at least one of.

  • Yard Cleanup & Leaf Removal

Got away from you while you were out of town? I’ll come once, reset the yard, and we can talk about whether weekly makes sense after.

Full property reset: rake or blow out the leaf load (live oaks drop in spring, not fall — North Austin folks always forget that), bag and haul, knock back the overgrowth, edge, and finish with a clean blow-down. Pre-listing yard prep is a common one — happy to do it as a one-time visit so the photos look right.

  • Bed Maintenance

Hand-pulled weeds, refreshed mulch, perennials cut back at the right time of year so the front beds don’t look forgotten.

I weed beds by hand — no broadcast spray near edibles or the bee plants, just careful pulling. Cedar or hardwood mulch refreshed each spring before the heat sets in. Salvia, lantana, and rosemary cut back at the right week, not on a calendar.

  • Shrub & Hedge Trimming

Boxwoods, hollies, esperanza, and the loropetalum nobody wants to climb into. Shaped clean, debris hauled.

Shrub work timed to plant biology — esperanza and lantana cut back hard in late winter, evergreen hollies and boxwoods shaped twice a season, fall-blooming salvia trimmed only after it finishes. Debris bagged and hauled, not piled curbside for three weeks.

  • Mulch Refresh

Hardwood or cedar mulch laid two to three inches deep in beds and tree rings — keeps moisture in and weeds out through August.

Bulk-delivered hardwood or cedar mulch (your call), spread by hand to a consistent depth around shrubs and tree rings, with a clean shovel-edge against the lawn. I’ll pull last year’s clumped mulch off first if it’s matted into a crust — most people skip that step and the new layer just suffocates on top.

  • Sod Patches & Repair

Bare dog-run, dead patch under the live oak, or the strip the rolloff dumpster killed — fresh St. Augustine or Bermuda laid and watered in.

Small-scale sod repair, not full re-sods. Soil prep, fresh St. Augustine or Bermuda laid in tight seams, rolled flat, and a written watering schedule for the first three weeks. I’ll stop back at week two to check root contact and pull any seams that lifted.

  • Seasonal Feed

A simple fertilization schedule that fits the Austin calendar — feed in spring, summer hold, fall recover. No upsell to twelve treatments a year.

A three-pass schedule: light spring feed once the soil hits sixty-five degrees, summer hold (no nitrogen during heat stress), fall recovery feed after the first cool front. That’s usually all most North-Austin yards need. I’d rather you pay me less and your lawn look better than the other way around.

Most weekly customers add cleanups, mulch, and the odd hardscape job — there’s usually a flat-rate way to handle that.
